  • Walks along the Lakeside or on the surrounding slopes, including a climb past a series of shrines to an Abbey with a trattoria.
  • Day trips to Milan, Bergamo, Lugano and St Moritz.
  • Sunbathing on private balconies and terraces, at commercial Lidos or on shingle beaches.
  • Relaxing with an ice cream or coffee at a pavement cafe in the piazza at Menaggio, Cernobbio, Argegno or Colico.
  • A relaxing ferry boat trip, thrill rides on the local buses, a funicular railway and a cable car.
  • Climbing, ‘canyoning’ hang-gliding, parachuting and other adventure pursuits in the mountains behind Menaggio and Bellagio.

  • Jungle Raider Park in Piano Rancio, near Civenna, has obstacle courses made from ropes slung through the branches of trees.
